What is safe but inexpensive type of fencing to use for a somewhat small area to fence. Area has a lot of trees in 1/2 of it. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks

Welcome indy

Do a search for Electrobraid. I have this type and consider it very safe, not to inexspensive at first but is very low maintenance and can be attached to trees.

An Electric fence is about the cheapest way to go. Please do not use any solid wire products as they are very dangerous when the horse get caught in them. Wire cuts are a nightmare.

My preference long term is a wooden fence with some lectic braided wire on top to keep the wood chewing under control. Put up cedar posts and 2X6 pine boards 20 years ago and just replacing the odd post and board now.

No fence is 100% safe, but we've had good luck with wood, electrobraid, and farm fence. Never have used high tensil...seen some nasty wire cuts, even 1 death. We always use hot wire with the wood and farm fencing. Currently using the electrobraid - 4 strands - and have yet to have a horse get tangled in it, but anything's possible.
