A while back I was searching the horses on those on-line horses for sale sites, and I started collecting photos of horses with conformation flaws. At least they looked like conformation flaws to me!

But I wonder if everybody will agree on what is wrong. Do you see anything wrong with these horses? I thought it might be fun to see if we all see the same things...

PS - They're not my horses, so say anything you want! [8D]

Here's #1 starters:

Here's #2

...how about this one? #3

1: He looks a little too long in the bottom line and that front leg is awkward. His neck and head look out of proportion to his body, being very heavy and his neck not really flowing smoothly into his whithers. Very long through the back as well.
2: Hard to tell with this one. He looks a little narrow in the hips, but that could just be the position he's in.
3: I think this horse would look much better with more meat on his bones. Other than being skinny, I don't really see that much wrong with him.
I think #3 has a strange looking croup...it's flat and high...and maybe partly because of that he's "camped out" in the back legs. I like a horse that stands with his hocks more under him.

I don't think so. If the pic had been taken from the other side, you would see that that leg is well under his body. It's not a very good pic, and the horse isn't set up to easily to view his conformation.
Looking at this chart, wouldn't you agree that his hocks are further back than the point of his butt? I agree, the photo is at an odd angle, but I still think his feet could be under him more.

#1 - blocky head; short neck; long back and bottom line; pastern angles very low on front
#2 - Can't tell much on this one, looks like a TN walker. May be a little goose-rumped in the pic. Also right fetlock looks awfully thick; very short pasterns.
#3 - Nice head, a little ewe-necked; front quarters are heavy and overpower hindquarters; hind legs are a little camped out, but it could just be the pic
Wow Redhawk! You sure had me confused for a while! When you said he had his right hind forward, that's when I thought you might be the one confused. I thought "what the heck is she talking about?" I would definitely say #3 is camped out, and #1 is the ugliest horse in the world. Almost looks like a prehistoric horse. But hey, she might be the sweetest thing in the world. Personally, I'm glad looks aren't everything!
To me, #4 looks too high in the rear and weak in the neck.
How about number 4...does anybody see anything wrong with that one?
