Since we are gonna have two DE Trailrides this year, I thought we should pay for own. Now, I wont be at the first one, but I can still do them. If you want a t-shirt/tank top (gotta check on how much the would be) you can send me the money + shipping (i can tell you how much if you PM me your address.

Could you possibly do a new design for the shirts? Something different would be so cool!

Although it sure seemed a long time in coming, here it is -- JULY! The first DE ride of the year is just 2 weeks away. Let's see, Juli, RH, & I, all have made reservations. Beth said some time ago that she was coming, but I've not heard anything since. So, anyone else planning on being there? Or even maybe just coming for dinner on Saturday night?

I hope more of you will be able to attend! And I'm keeping my fingers crossed for good weather; dry and not too hot!

What time are you planning to arrive EZ? I have reservations for Friday and Saturday night and thought I would pull out early Friday afternoon. It's about a 2 hour haul for me, so would get me down there sometime after 3:00 and hopefully it won't be dreadfully hot. Would like to go out for a ride Friday afternoon/evening. Are we still doing a pitch in dinner Saturday?

Debating on who to bring but will probably bring Nakota. Poor Tuff is being negleted this year while I get Nakota going on the trails. No worries, the property where I am boarding him backs up to a huge tree farm and I have permission to ride on it. All I have to do is clear a path through the fence row and Tuff will no longer be neglected. He is tired of doing laps around the hay field

I'm on vacation all this week if anyone wants to come and ride Salamonie State Forest or Lost Bridge West. My best days will be from Thursday thru next Sunday.

As for the DE Ride; I'm planning on pulling in around noon. EZ is usually there about the same time though I can't vouch for her 100%. LOL We normally ride to the Hickory Grove Church and back on Fridays. It's become something of a tradition when camping at MTR . I don't believe we're planning on doing any cooking, and dinner is from 5:00 to 7:00 pm in the mess hall. We'll have to see how things work out if we want to ride together on Friday I guess. I'm just thinkin' out loud, nothing definite .

So, it's just the five of us then? I'm guessing, Juli, that you will be bringing a friend? I guess that would be enough for a pitch-in. Maybe it would be easier just to have our meals in the mess hall ? What does everyone think?

I should be there around noon on Friday.

I'd planned for a pitch-in on Saturday night; just need to know how much food to bring. It will be easy stuff; sloppy joes, some sides, and a dessert or two. If anyone wants to bring something, let us know, so we won't end up with too much or too little of anything. For the other meals, RH and I usually just eat in the mess hall. It is easier, and not really much more expensive than buying a lot of stuff and ending up throwing a lot of it away that doesn't get eaten.

Looking forward to it!!!

RH, let me get back with you on riding at Salamonie; might be able to meet you there on Saturday.

Friday is right around the corner for the DE Ride... or is it a "DE Ride"? Seems like everyone is dropping out due to one thing or another, and I was so looking forward to visiting with all our good DE folk at MTR this weekend. I know EZ and I will be there. Anyone else?

Looks like nobody else is really interested, and I'm sure the expected heat is not helping! Gonna be the smallest DE ride ever...

But RH have our sites paid for, and we might as well use them. I hope the fall ride will get a better turnout. Maybe people are just burned out on the idea of a DE ride, and it is time to give up on it?

Don't give up on it just a bad year for alot of folks, myself included. The heat this time of year is also a big deterrant.I rode today at 7am for 45 minutes and was covered in sweat! I had planned on at least coming up sat evening but that is a big maybe as my Mom decided that I am required to attend the family reunion. It is amazing at 46 I am still a little scared of my Mother!!

I don't know, Beth, I get the feeling people just don't feel it is worth it to get together anymore. After all, most of us in the area have now met, so there really isn't much about the rides that is new.

LOL, I hear ya about being terrified of your mother! My mom is nearly 76, weighs 96 lbs, and nobody has dared to cross her yet!

Well, leaving tomorrow to meet RH; we will do what riding the weather allows, and the rest of the time, I just plan on sitting around and enjoying being down there.

I actually like the group getting together even if I have met everyone as I do like to chat face to face, the world is becoming a text and e-mail kinda place and I don't like it! I will try and make it for a short visit if nothin else on saturday!

We would love to be able to come, but it is such a long drive for the horses in the trailer and it is so hot for them standing in a metal box driving down a hot black tar strip. We did talk about driving down in the car to visit but that fell by the wayside due to other commitments.

I wonder if we shouldn't think about meeting someplace without the horses for a get together. It would be much more doable for all the people who live a long ways away.

Now if you want to get together in my neck of the woods for a DE ride, I will be sure and attend.

I like the idea of the yearly DE ride but maybe we should consider making it at different places each year. Meaning not always in IN. What a great way to see and ride new places as well as get together with old and new friends. Just a thought...

I am still disappointed I had to cancel for this weekend but thankful both my boys will be ok. Two trips to the vet in as many days and the meds both are now on sucked up my fun money for a little bit.

I'm not 100% sure, but I don't think you can change the dates unless its done two weeks before your original reservation date.

I was able to move my paid dates and I did move them for the Sept CMO ride Now hopefully we have unscheduled vet visits out of our system and the fun money fund won't be depleted.

I guess I will cancel my October reservation, then! The weekend of Sept. 25th is my parents' 60th wedding anniversary, so I certainly wouldn't want to be away during that time! RH hadn't planned on coming to the October ride, and I am not too keen on riding on my own.
