Well, I delivered Dixie to her new owner today. Pat seems like a very nice lady, and her husband and my boyfriend hit it off too talking about car racing. She is going to keep in touch with me, and send me pics occasionally. She thought Dixe was beautiful and was very impressed at how calm and well-behaved she is for a youngster. We unloaded her and loaded her back up in a gas station parking lot......LOL It was sad, yet I felt a huge weight lift off my shoulders today.

I know you'll miss her but now you can concentrate on yourself and riding Pete.

Please let us know when you hear from her new owners!

I can just imagine the picture of that transfer! I'm so impressed. Not too many horses would have done that easily! You did a good job with her! Pat yourself on the back for that one! Remember the song "Free your mind...and the rest will follow"? Now you just take care of you and heal on your rides with Pete.....the rest will follow. You did the right thing!

Thanks for the update. Glad things went well and the weather cooperated.

Sounds like you found the perfect buyer for Dixie and it will allow you some comfort knowing she's going to a good home.

I've only sold one horse, and he went to an excellent home. During that time, the owner called me to say she had to sell him and wanted me to have first chance to buy him back. At the time, I couldn't afford to do it. I lost track of him after that until an ad in the Peddler Post 2 years after we sold him. It seems he went to another good home to be a first horse for 2 young boys, but they were more interested in things like ATV's. Ahhhhh, boys and their motor toys! Anyway, we bought him back, and he was with us to the day he died... though I never thought at the time I sold him that I'd ever get him back.

So, who knows, Melissa? Maybe the day will come when you & Dixie will cross paths, again, and at a time when you will be more ready for her? Stranger things have happened.

Anywho, I can very readily sympathize with what you are going through in letting go of Dixie. As you can see, I've been through it, too. So, go give Pete a big hug, and let him help you heal. I'm sure you will have many wonderful rides on him ahead of you.

Well I'm glad to hear that everything turned out ok!
Best of Luck!
