Since gas is so freakin' expensive, I've been riding at home most of the time but today was just so pretty, Joe & I decided to haul to Lick Creek. When we started out, it was pretty warm (in the 80's) and it didn't take long for Joe to work up a sweat.

We had the trail to ourselves and Joe watched for his monsters and I watched for mine. Joe didn't see any of his but I sure found mine! My fly whisk/spider wacker sure got a work out. The leaves are beginning to fall and so are the hickory nuts and walnuts. ROFL!! Thank heavens the walnut bounced off the cantle bag & not Joe's butt. I'm not sure how accepting he'd be of walnuts hitting him.

We were about 30 minutes from getting back to the trailer when a refreshing breeze hit us and more leaves fell. And more nuts. Another gust of cooler wind came by then each gust was a few degrees cooler. AHHHHH! By the time we got back to the trailer, the temp was 71 on the truck's thermometer! It's turned from summer to fall in just a few minutes.

I hope everyone that can ride (sorry Floops & EZ) are getting to ride! There's got to be more of us than just RH & me that are hitting the trails!

Waaaaahhhhh! I want to ride at Lick Creek, too! ;o) Sounds like a great ride.

I can tell you those falling walnuts are pesky this time of year. At Brown County a couple weeks ago, our campsite was full of them. Some time around dark-thirty in the morning, a bunch fell on top of my trailer, right above my bed.......SHRIEK!!!!!! I thought someone was breaking into my trailer. I bolted up out of bed and almost knocked my head off on the bulkhead roof!

I'll be riding at Mammoth Cave next weekend. I can't wait! I may, if I'm lucky, go to Taylorsville Lake this Sunday. Friends rode there this past weekend and said the trails are great and they even have a covered bridge built across one.

LOL !

I have to laugh at the thing about the walnuts.

One of my first boyfriends was into horses, and we used to hang around together at the old Wabash Saddle Club grounds. We were talking and hanging around one of the water faucets when Tony(my boyfriend) decided to bend over and get a drink. That's when a walnut fell from the tree and hit him square in the back. He turned around in a snap with this angry look on his face as he searched around with his eyes. It took me quite some time to convince him that no one had come up and hit him in the back ! He was really ready to fight !

Lick Creek is near Paoli, IN. It's a short loop of about 6 miles but only about 10 minutes from my house. Southern Indiana has some great trails with several within an hour from me.

Have a great weekend!

Gald you've been enjoying some fall riding. As for me I've been busy working. Still not a permanent full time job but work nontheless. I plan to get up to the barn soon and get me some riding in. My sanity is at stack if I don't!

Gas has been a concern for me as well. My current job entails a lot of driving each day to different client sights repairing Dell laptop computers and desktops. Seems like everytime I turn around I have to "feed" the tank. Boy I really feel sorry for people driving around those big 8 cylinder gas gulping vechicles. I think my Toyota Sienna is a 6 cylinder and that seems to gulp enough gas.

Anyhow, I am with you Paint. Let's enjoy the riding time while this short window of opportunity is upon us before it gets to cold.
