Hi, I just bought the Crates light rider endruance saddle and it has the center fire rigging (at least I think that's what it's called). I know I should end in the Y shape but I'm not clear on how to do this. The saddle came with 2 straps to rig up the girth. I can't find anything on the site to show me the how to's. Can anyone help me out? Thanks!

Tucker has a great diagram on their site at http://www.tuckersaddles.com/EnduroBalancedSingleTie.shtml

We have a not so great diagram on our site at http://www.horsesaddleshop.com/sadrigandpar.html

Thanks Chuck. The Tucker site gave nice directions and a good picture. I assume that the short strap is for the off side (right) of the horse and attatched to the grith in the same way that Tucker shows the near side cinched up. Am I correct? Why do these saddle companies not give directions with the saddle? Do they think we all know everything? Might be a nice suggestion to Crates, I'd tell them myself but I've never found a web site for them. Thanks for the info. HAve a terrific day

Sharon,
Thanks for the crates site but they have no information on it about the rigging and they do NOT give an email address for the company. Wow, makes me wonder just how customer friendly they are. I SEE NO WAY TO RIG BOTH SIDES OF THE SADDLE WITH WHAT WAS SUPPLIED BY CRATES IN A CENTER FIRE RIGGING SETUP. HELP! Does anybody know?

Usually the off side is rigged the same as the mount side. You use one tie strap to make the V between the two dees with the cinch connected at the bottom. If there is an off billet rather than the tie strap, I wonder if it is designed for Center Fire or Enduro rigging. All of Circle Y trail saddles now come with the nylon tie strap on both sides, rather than the off billet with the holes that attach to the cinch buckle. This gives for better strength, as often the holes get stretched.

Chuck, I bought this saddle from you on Monday. Can you check because the way you describe the set up I don't think the Crates Endurance is set up for the center fire rigging. The off side billet they provide is a standard short billet and will not let me set up as center fire. The girth provided by Crates is very short so it makes sense that they want you to do center fire but it is not possible with what came with the saddle. I'm fairly sure you said this saddle was to be used center fire. Can you check with your Crates rep and be sure what is correct. Thanks a bunch.

We have a call out to Crates to see if the saddle is truly made for Center Fire rigging. They are to call us back in an hour or so. They said they've received several calls in the past day about this....

Thanks Chuck, I really appreciate all the hard work you're doing for me. Just that much more reason to shop with you folks. From personal experience I know not all places do anything about the follow though and I really appreciate the "old fashion" serve you give. If Crates has received other calls on this I don't feel so bad. I look forward to their answer.

Mr. Crates (Dan) said that the cr5001 can indeed be rigged as center fire, but most people prefer traditional rigging, therefore they put the off-billet on rather than the other tie strap. You can see the cr5001 at http://www.horsesaddleshop.com/gaited-horse-endurance-saddle.html shows the off-billet as also.

Thanks, Chuck. As least now I know what was provided and I'll need to purchase the other tie strap to set this up as center fire. Whew! Good to have an answer. I thought I was really crazy that I couldn't see a way to get the off-billet to work for center fire - I wasn't crazy after all...it really was an off-billet! Hope this helps someone else at some point...than it will make it all worth the work! Have a terrific day all.
