Ooooh - I didn't know Ed was going to have booth. I will have to look him up, say "Howdy" and give him an update on Nakota (who rocks).

Noon at the ITRA booth on Saturday sounds fine by me! My son is with me that weekend and he likes to go and see the rodeo.

I can't wait to visit with some good friends, pet the pretty ponies, and check out all the wonderful deals. This is going to be fun!

Appygirl,
You look mahvalous darling....
I've gone the opposite route and gained a few pounds over the years. I sometimes wonder if that changes the way I balance and ride, or if it is the age thing. Will be interesting to see what you think with the "new you" and riding....I am inspired by you and time to get on a spring slim down program!

I know when I was about 30 pounds heavier, I began blaming things on my age. I even broke down and used a mounting block a few times, which I vowed I would never do. After I lost that spare tire around my middle, I was amazed that all my agility came back. I feel better now, and can bounce right up on Terra, no problem at all.

So for me at least, I feel that age is an excuse for not staying in shape through diet and exercise. The only thing age has to do with it is we can't eat like we used to when we were young and have to stay active. Don't slow down and push yourself. You'll be amazed at the results when combined with diet, and I'm sure it'll add years to your life.

Way to go, Annie! Keep up the good work!

For a photo comparison, below is a pic taken by Flooper at the 2005 (?) DE Ride at Midwest, and the pic taken at the office taken from last week.

Thanks to everyone for your kind words. I really appreciate them.

For those who have said I am an inspiration, thank you, I am honored by your statement. I wish you well in your quest to find your "new" you, too, and enjoy a healthier life. I wish I had done it years ago.

Know what ya mean, Bones! I scarfed down a few Thin Mints yesterday, too!

I HAVE been keeping up with my exercise program, and feel much better, not to mention, stronger. But I've only lost 8 pounds. I figure my fat is too happy and content where it is, to pay any attention to the eviction notice I've been trying to send!

I ordered 4 boxes of girl scout cookies from my (ex) step-son's daughter, Tia. While they have yet to be delivered to me, two of the boxes are going to find a home at Greg's house and the other two will be given to Heath with strong orders to hide them away under lock and key!

I did have a divine treat today: fresh strawberries sprinkled with Splenda. Yummy! They were so good that I'm taking some to work with me tomorrow for lunch!

LOL, EZ, that is funny. Can you give fat a 7-day notice for eviction? 8# is a great start. Before long, I'm sure there will be more to add on to it.

Hey, I just got a great idea. Why don't we have a DE Biggest Loser contest? It would be a great way for DE folks to get healthy? We could post monthly pics and stats. I will exclude myself from eligibility but would love to see others join in. Do you think it would be fun?

I'm game! I've lost 10# since Feb. 1st. After our trip to Elko we started talking about our next great adventure and it came around to a possible mule ride down the Grand Canyon. Ed has done that before but Adam, Deb and I would also like to try. Trouble is, there's a 200# weight limit, and I am a long ways from that. We'll see....

Way to go Harv!! The mule ride into the Grand Canyon would be awesome!!

I am game too - I am endevouring to lose 22 pounds myself and get back to the lighter side of the weight recommendations for my height (ok, let rip with the short jokes ). I've only just started my journey and am down 3.5 pounds to date.

Woo Hoo, Harv....that's 10 pounds off toward your goal and a good starting increment! Keep going.

Juli, I'm gravity challenged, too; it's a wonder my feet even reach the ground since I'm so short. Keep up the good work.

Anyone else want to participate in DE's Biggest Loser contest? I can design some type of trophy for the winner. We'd definitely need to have at least a weekly update on pounds lost. Wouldn't necessarily have to post a beginning/ending weight since some folks don't like to broadcast this (myself included). Also a monthly updated pic would be great. How long should we run the contest for? I would suggest the fall DE ride. Let me know what you might think on this.

I'm kinda sitting on the fence about the idea of making it a competition! On one hand, I think it's a great idea; on the other hand, I lose weight so slowly, that I tend to get really discouraged and stressed out when I compare my progress (or rather, the lack of it) with that of others. Then the more stressed out I get, the more I eat!

But, oh, well, count me in! The worst that can happen is that I don't lose anything. We need to set official starting and ending dates.

Great! I think we've got the makings of some good fun and the possibility of great results for everyone. Definitely need starting/ending dates. For the start date, I would propose one week from this Monday, which would be March 22? The ending date could be one week prior to the DE fall ride. Has a date been established for that? If not, does someone want to throw and ending date out?

All those who are participating should post a "Now" picture of yourself and then update with a new photo at least once a week. Also, need to post what your weight loss goals are in number of pounds you are seeking to lose. Weekly or bi-weekly results can be posted. I will develop a flow chart on everyone to gauge the loss.

I am envisioning a good time for everyone with splendid results.

Anyone else want to join in?

The fall ride is Oct 1-3. No way I can post pictures, so I will have to skip that part. Starting date of Monday March 22nd, and ending date of Monday Sept. 27th would be about right!

Yup, we need to get this on its own thread!

Jill and I were extremely blessed with good weather this past Friday. It was a balmy 22* when I left for the barn at 9am. I got Lexi cleaned up and the trailer hooked up. Took ole Lil out to the field for some well earned alone time.
It was extremely foggy (2-hour school delay) so I wasn't in any big hurry. Especially when heading to Jill's neck of the woods. Gotta dodge Amish buggies and bikes.
Nice thing about picking Jill up is the fact that I can leave the rig on the road to load and unload.
We got Max loaded while BG sang "getting to know you" to both the horses LOL.
I was really excited to finally get Lexi on the trails. I've only ridden her for about an hour at the farm.
Finally got in the saddle about noon and it had warmed up considerably with the sun burning off the fog.
The trails were soooooooooo beautiful. I told Jill earlier this winter that I hoped we would be able to go to PC and ride in the snow.
This is riding thru the campground. It's very nice. Electric and showerhouse.

This is on the way out of one of 4 trailheads looking down a row of empty hitch rails.

Just some pretty trails to share!

Jill and Max

Wendi and Lexi( Who DOESN'T BOLT )

One of the many ponds throughout the park.

This is an old road that runs through the park that many of us use to " S*#T and Git" !

Max decided to drink out of one of the water holes made from an actual Indiana Glacier!!

Isn't the blue sky absolutely gorgeous??

It was so peaceful riding through the woods. The birds were singing and woodpeckers were at too. We saw 6 does off to the side of the trail. Pretty big too! Probably because they haven't dropped their fawns yet. Won't be long before they quit running in herds to give birth. The horses also startled a couple of extremely large turkey hens. Glad they weren't right on the trail though. Not sure how Lexi would have acted. LOL
We did have a bit of a problem when we tried to cross a running mudhole though. She was going through anything very well until this spot. Max started across and when he stepped on the ice crust at the edge it made a noise that scared the bejeebers outa both of them. Jill had to really persuade Max to go over, but Lexi wasn't having any of it without jumping it. ( Not an option) I finally got off and tried to lead her over but still a no go. Now I remembered Jill had treats in her pocket so I offered one to Lex and she came right across. Can I say Food Motivated??? She went back and forth like a trooper and then I climbed back on we did it again!!
We rode until 1:30 and went back for lunch.

Finally at 4:30 we decided it was time to go home. Very disapointed I had to leave. But it won't be long till we can go every weekend! I know this because we saw *****willows opening and my daffodill's are up about 5 inches

Nice pics, and I'm glad Lexi is working out for you...AND that you had a good ride while the weather was nice!!

No trail riding for me yet, but I did ride at home yesterday and today, for the first time since early January. Oh, well, that's a start! I've never been to Potato Creek, but it's on my list of places I hope to make it to this year.

Ahhhh what a great day it was......Glad some of the pics came out ok. Wendi and I decided there was no way humans could get any happier than we were at that moment in time.... Max behaved so well, I informed Mr.BG (who stole Max from me 2 years ago)that I am more than willing to help HIM find a different horse. lol (I wasn't kidding)

Cool - let the season begin!! I was planning to go to Salamonie Sunday but then discovered that someone forgot to renew the trailer plates.

I did ride Nakota Sunday morning outside in the hay field behind the barn. He did so well! A cross-country jump made out of stumps had him on high alert but with lots of quiet words and encouragement he was soon walking around it no problem

I got to ride today!!! It was a shortish ride(about an hour and a half)but boy was it good to be back out.Gotone tried to turn down every trail but the one leading out and really tried to turn back at the trailer. It was just great not much to look at but still great. The trail was drier than it ever was last year so am hoping for much more riding this year!

I was hauling hay (found some grass hay to mix with the alfalfa), getting materials for the stalls and spreading another load of rock in the shed since I finally figured out it would be easier to spread the rock BEFORE the stalls were built. LOL... DUH!

I'm glad you got to ride though! Did you get all the way to the Blue? How high is it?

Rode the upper blue trail and is was just a wee bit up.
Today I rode Gotone at Lick Creek. It was sloppy but firming up.The sun was out, birds singing, even the owls were moving around. No new claw marks! There was still snow in a couple of places, and the creek had water in it!

EZ and I are talking about going to the Ladies Ride the weekend before Memorial Day weekend that will be held at Blackwell horse camp. This is just a hop, skip, and a jump from Midwest Trail Ride. I know this post will be for DE'ers in the Indiana neighborhood. But I just read on another forum that Paint Gal might be going too. Anyone else?

EZ and I are thinking about camping at MTR and hauling to Blackwell to ride. Call us chicken, but Blackwell is VERY primitive. I'd probably camp there, but they don't have running water... just a hitch rail and pit toilets. No electric or water. If you get there early enough, they do have a few small corrals, but these are limited. The ride starts on a Thursday and runs through Sunday. Again, that's over the weekend before Memorial Day weekend.

So, PG; are you going to camp at Blackwell or join EZ and me in the creature comforts of MTR? I guess I should add that we'll be getting regular campsites when camping at MTR this year to save a little on money .

The ride DOES run Thursday through Sunday, but RH and I usually plan on getting to MTR around noon on Friday. Ellen, it will be great to ride with you again. Is there another way to get from Monk's to Blackwell, other than by going South through Norman?

Let's hope the weather is good!

No Hook, the rotation is recent. X-rays were taken 5 weeks ago showing no rotation. He came up lame while being ridden, so we had to rule out a fractured coffin bone originally. The big gas pocket from the abscess indicates that the laminae were damaged, allowing rotation. But vet said can be corrected with good farrier work.

I am starting to allow myself to become more optimistic! (Knock on wood.) Annie's temp has not gone over 101 for 2 weeks. Also her heart rate is now running around 48 and her respirations 14-16. Both of these numbers are the lowest they've been since she has been home. We now have her on Naxcel, 11 cc IM twice a day. She has been on this for about a week now, and it appears to be working. The docs at Purdue say this antibiotic is better at getting into the abscesses. She is going back up to Purdue for a recheck on Thursday. I am anxious to see what they find on ultrasound now. She still has a drainage tube in the abscess, but I think they will have to do something with that... either change it or take it out. Fingers crossed that we get a good report on Thursday and she continues to improve!

Updated information on Sadie since November.

She was sent to a professional reining trainer in January for two months due to her newest behavior of rearing and her continued refusals. He called my daughter after a week to say she was super smart and a pig! She would run backwards when he asked for forward movement. Her flat refusal to comply only happened with him in the saddle. When he was on the ground, she was all about doing anything asked of her. He was going to try her again in the next few days to see if he could get her to take steps forward. Well, that didn't happen until he had put stripes on her rump. He stated she gets so mad at having to work that she would hurt herself rather than do what was asked! He pushed her really hard on the ground one day to be sure she would not have one of her "angry, you can't make me" fits, and Sadie did everthing he asked - showing no sign of refusal -she was all sweetness and compliance.

His final assessment and discussed solutions for Sadie: If she was put into years of training she might come around and make an experienced rider a good mount. If she went to a ranch to be rode everyday from sun up to sunset for some wet-blanket therapy, she "might" give up the fight and someone may want her for a ranch/using horse. However, she would never be a horse I could trust or ride in small shows as she would always be thinking up ways to get out of work and revert back to refusing everything.

With the market as it is, we were left with selling her at auction. We signed her up for the month of April doing the ranch work wet-blanket treatment. We hoped she would sell to some cowboy that would not care if she was unruly or tried to refuse.

Still, we worried Sadie would end up where someone would fight with her and one or the other of them would end up hurt. Our dream was for her to go into a broodmare herd, but not many people are breeding with the market in a slump. But, we figured we would make some calls to friends to see if anyone would be interested in her as a broodmare - for free. Her pedigree is a who's who of the cutting industry as her parents back through her great grandparents had won money and made names for theirselves in cutting. They all liked her pedigree but many had their own 2 and 3 year olds still unsold as well as yearlings and two year olds, too. It wasn't looking good.

Until, a lady in Nebraska called back to say she had talked to her husband and even though Sadie was closely bred to most of their stallions, they would take her and see what kind of foal she would throw with their own son of Major Bonanza. As long as she didn't pass her negative attitude, she will have a home with their mares.

Its her best chance at a life that fits her needs and I couldn't be happier for her. I firmly believe that her first owners did Sadie a great disservice when they spoiled her as a pet and that her bad attitude for work is not something she can pass to her foals. Maybe when I am ready for another horse I can see what Sadie has on the ground!

I'm sorry she didn't work out for you, but it sounds like what you did was the best solution. It is always a bad situation when a young horse is in the hands of people who have no idea what they are doing, and the horse ends up totally messed up. Not the horse's fault, but it is the horse that suffers the consequences.

My old 60's Circle Y trail saddle has seen better days but would like some replacement fenders. Not only are they really too long for me (my properly adjusted stirrups leave no room for hobbles), but they have both been broken and repaired over the years. The saddle is dark oil antique with a floral pattern. The original fenders are heavily tooled but I'd consider anything that would look reasonable. Even purchasing an old unusable saddle for a low price just for the fenders is not out of the question. Anyone got any to get rid of?

Ok, so here's the deal. I'm a big gal. My horses have short backs. I'm looking for a new saddle.

I sold the saddle in this pic because it was too long for my smaller horses. It's a 17" Circle Y.

I sold the saddle in these pics because I felt the seat was too small for me. It was a 17.5" Tucker.

So I need a new saddle. Like everybody else, I'm strapped for cash right now. I'm tempted to get the 19" synthetic that HSS sells. How do synthetics work with larger riders? Good or bad? I *think* based on the skirt length that it would work. On the other hand, I *know* the Tucker fit my horses. Should I suck it up and spend more money and go with the 18.5" seat?

Hey sunedee! Welcome to ! I really don't have anything intelligent to offer on the saddle question, but just wanted to say welcome. You have a couple of nice looking horses there. Stick around and tell us more about them and you. We are in southwest/central Indiana and we have 6 horses which we thoroughly enjoy! Where are you located? What type of riding do you do?

Hey hmeyer!

I guess I should have done an intro thread before I just jumped in, huh?

I'm located in western Kentucky. I've got 4 curlies and one belgian that's going to his new home next week. I'm severely allergic to horses which is why I have curlies.

I trail ride mostly. We hit a couple local shows last year but I don't think we'll do that again this year. No room on the trailer with all the kids going.

So here's my crew!

Moon, 6 year old curly/draft/tb cross. He's an extreme curly which means that he has little to no mane or tail hair. The "clean" look has grown on me, lol.

Murray, 5 year old curly/spotted draft cross. He's not an extreme but he doesn't grow alot of hair.

Emmy, 4 year old curly/belgian/qh cross. She is my heart horse and honestly the love of my life.

And last but not least, Sailor - curly/perch cross. He's 3.

Welcome to DE, Sunedee!

I love the pics of your horses, especially the head shots! They all have that easy going calm look to them.

I can't comment to your saddle dilemma but you can always call the Horse Saddle Shop and talk to a saddle expert. They'll know about the construction of the saddles and be able to tell you what would be best for you.

There are several of us on the board from Indiana so we're sort of neighbors! I'm in southern Indiana.

Aw, just HOW CUTE is that last picture???

Good luck with your saddle hunt. I'm sure with those draft crosses you're also limited by tree width, needing something up in the wider trees -- it may be just me, but it has seemed to me like a lot of the synthetics I've come across have narrow trees. Or maybe most of the folks I know who have synthetic saddles also have Arabians. Just something to check on, I guess.

Thanks, 'plash!! I love me some Sailor, lol. He's a good boy. That was his second show and he was only 2!

HSS has a 19" synthetic with FQHB.

I don't know. It's just the $600 is easier to swallow than $1900, you know? I think I'm probably going to just suck it up and get the Tucker though.

Thanks!

Sunedee, welcome to DE. When I was a Big Gal, before I recently lost a bunch of weight. I rode in a 17" Big Horn synthetic saddle. I believe it fit both my horse and me well. I like the synthetics because they are so easy to clean when trailriding, and you dont' have to worry if they get wet if you're caught out in a rainstorm. Following is a pic of the saddle I had.

I don't think I have any pics of me "in the saddle", but I'll look around and see if I can find one.

I love your curlie/crosses. Also, I'm in Kentucky, too (Lexington). Would love to have an opportunity to ride with you sometime. Do you ever ride at Double J/Mammoth Cave?

Hi Appygirl! It's good to know that you were happy with a synthetic. I've already talked to Chuck once. I think before I make up my mind for good, I'll call and talk to him again. I'll need to layaway if I want the Tucker anyway.

I'm about an hour and a half from Mammoth Cave. I've never been but my trailriding buddies were talking about going this year. We heard the camping facilities were really nice. I'm planning on taking a week off the second week of May so .... Maybe we'll be able to meet up?

Have you ever been down to our end of the state to go to Wrangler's Camp in the Land Between the Lakes? We ride there alot and also in the Shawnee National Forest in southern Illinois.

Too cool to meet another Kentucky trailrider!

You guys will love riding at Mammoth Cave. Doublel J Campground is one of my favorite places to camp. Jack and Jan, the owners of Double J, are super nice and the facilities are great! Nice electric sites, or primitive camping if you desire. Stalls, pens, and turn out paddocks available for your horses. Also, NICE shower facilities, wash areas for horses, firewood for purchase....ice,soda and snacks, too too; and free wood shaving bedding for stalls and pens. Trails are very good, with most being intermediate to challenging. The perimeter trail is beginner/novice friendly. Lots of nice scenery.

I have never ridden at Wrangler's. I hear the trails are nice there, but it's a little tricky getting a good camping area since they don't do reservations.

Let me know if you and friends reserve in May, and I'll see if I can join you.

We'll definitely have to see if we can work something out. I like the idea of pens. Can you still tie your horses out? Murray will NOT stay in a stall. If he can't get out, he'll kill himself trying!

Wranglers' will accept reservations up to 6 months in advance. When we stayed in October since it was fall break, we had to make ours a couple months in advance. We still ended up with a site without water, :(

Murray would probably like the turn-out pens best. You can use those as long as you have more than one horse in them. Double J has 4 different pens. They have 13 or 14 stalls and countless metal gate open pens (probably around 20).

You can tie your horses out on high lines in primitive, but not when you're in the electric camping area. You can't tie your horses to your trailer or leave them overnight on the hitching rails.

It's good to know Wranglers will now take reservations. I'd like to ride there some day.

I don't have any real answers, just some comments...

If you decide to go with a synthetic saddle, there are a number of different brands. This summer, I borrowed an Abetta endurance saddle from a friend, and was surprised to find I really liked it. I don't know what the western model is like to ride in, but I've noticed the trees seem to be ideal for short-backed horses, and also come in both regular and wide trees. So this is what I'd probably buy, if looking for a western synthetic.

At one time, I had a Bighorn synthetic, but didn't like it. It just didn't fit me or my horses. Everyone (and every horse!) is different, though!

Welcome to the DE, and let us know what saddle you decide to get!

I have a 14" Abetta round skirt for the POA bought used 5-6 years ago for the kids, and ended up riding in it...it is still going strong even though it really is wayyy to small for me. Resale is pretty good and can't beat not having to lift something heavy....esp. if tall horses......how tall are yours??

Hi Sundee, welcome to the Forum. You have a nice herd of horses there and I like how super friendly thy all look in the photos.
(Not sure I could get used to a tail without hair though :))

I am sure Chuck can fix you up with a saddle that fits both you and your horse.

Just a caution, I am not sure that you will find one saddle that will fit both your large horses and the smaller one. I suggest you review the saddle shop's templates on your horses to make sure.

Thank you all for your compliments on my horses. They're the light of my eyes and I'm totally barn blind so I enjoy the compliments, lol!!

So it seems most of you have had good experiences with the synthetic saddles. It's something to consider.

Thanks, Hook! I am definitely planning another chat with Chuck. How do you feel about using a thicker pad to make up for a slightly too wide saddle? I think the wide/fqhb tree will work fine on the two larger horses. Moon has a funny shaped back. A friend has had good luck working with the Skito pad people on designing a pad to fit the specific horse. I was planning on doing the same with Moon. I use a 1" 5-star pad with everybody else. Moon and Murray are the only ones undersaddle currently. Obviously I'd like a saddle that would fit everybody but I know that's not always going to happen. So again, how do you feel about finding a different pad for each situation?

Hello my great new friends in the horse world. Yes indeed my partner is one of a kind to me. Not only will he make me laugh when I think thinks should have not let me be around, he can actually give me a big up lift and thank all my new friends around the country and be so happy God put us together. I would love to know how he understands my silent voice and knows my sign language. It is easier to not worry how and just enjoy. Well friends I finally got a picture of Dollar and me on the forum. I have no idea where it is. I did find a forum section that explained how to upload a picture. I followed those instructions and the picture is too big, but you can see all of us. thank you all for being my great new friends and I will do better the next time with the pictures.

Hi Dan. That is a very nice photo of you and Dollar. I moved your post with it to the Photography section but perhaps the best place would be right in your post.

You can just post directly here.

What a great pair, you two look like you're having fun. I can see why you'd want a wide tree, Dollar looks like a sturdily-built fellow! He also looks friendly and intelligent. Many good rides to you both!

All right now, I now need a 2010 application. Stupid me not paying attention slid right off when Jessie thought she saw something, but after a couple of steps stopped and stood there getting ready to doze off.

Okay, does this make HCG the first to renew her membership for 2010, or does anyone else have a confession to make???

Nope, HCG's the first I know of! Though a guy on a bicycle did their best to give me a complimentary membership -- I guess Pepper's not so good with bikes that don't slow down as they're coasting down a hill towards her. Stayed on by three toes and a fingernail I think, but I did, and I think we gave the bike guy the scare of his life too! (A good learning experience for him, I'd say!)

Knock on wood, 2010 will be a year I do not become a GTA member! Nakota tried to unseat me when he decided a piece of construction trash in the field across the street was going to eat him but was (thankfully) unsuccessful. Man he is quick!

Wow, I'm the first?! What a high honnor!

I'm all right thanks all, just a little sore here and there. It wasn't really a soft landing at all, mostly driveway ice.

I noticed what I thought was a cat down at the horse barn and on second glance realized it was a fox. She ran up the house and picked around in the bird seed and then lay down near the house. Looks like she has a pretty bad case of mange which will probably end up killing her.

Poor girl. That mange will end up killing her.

We had a fox sleep-over in our barn for a short time and both big dogs caught mange from it.

After creams and baths and whatever, the cure was liquid Ivermectin which killed the mange. Wonder if you could lace some bait with Ivermectin to help your Fox?

how sad! I wonder if Hook's idea would work?

How close were you able to get without disturbing her? I had a mangy fox come across the small hill behind my barn and collapse a few years ago. He was so far gone, nothing but skin and bones. I put him out of his misery and buried him.

Got camera happy ...have had rain every week, unusual for here, things beginning to bloom...end of March should be fantastic with spring flowers. Couldn't get pics, but can see the poppies coming up off the freeways.
These are just around the yard.

Mexican lavendar and geraniums:

Even the dogs were out grazing on the new grass:

The little orange blossoms in the last photo were iceplant but closed up since overcast and rainy. Late April or May all the iceplant around the area should be blooming: red, yellow, purple and orange...so gorgeous and bright it hurts your eyes. Will try to get photos of that.

Anyone out there want to join the fun, get in shape, and win the first DE Biggest Loser trophy?

I am proposing that we begin a DE Biggest Loser contest that would begin on Monday, March 22 and end on September 27, the week before the October 1-3 fall trail ride. Several folks have already voiced their willingness to participate.

The rules are simple:

1) If you can, post a picture of you now and then update each month with a new picture.

2) Post the amount of weight you would like to lose. You do not have to post your actual beginning and ending weight if you do not wish (I know I don't like to broadcast what my weight is). Each week, say, each Monday post the number of pounds + or - that you have lost.

3) The Biggest Loser as of September 27 will be awarded a trophy at the October 1 - 3 fall ride. The winner's presence isn't necessary, but it would be a blast if you could be there. You will be recognized and applauded for your great achievement. If you're not there, your hard-earned trophy will be mailed to you.

Why are we wanting to do this? First off, to get healthy. Perhaps, you have a good reason to lose weight. For example, Harv wants to lose some weight to take a mule ride to the bottom of the Grand Canyon. Others who are participating have reasons of their own. If you wish, let us know why you would like to lose weight. It is always good to have a goal in mind. Secondly, your horse might appreciate it! Goodness knows Hi-Grey would have loved me losing weight years ago. I know I heard him muttering the phone number to the ASPCA when he lugged my lard up those steep hills!

So, what do ya say? Do you want to join this contest? I think it will be a blast. I will not be a participant, but I will be happy to manage all of the statistics.

If anyone has any other good ideas to include in the contest, please let me know.

I'm really excited about this. Let's all get healthy!

Appygirl

I want to lose 52lbs. the reasons are many, mainly my young horse is smaller than Gotone and she needs me to be minus at least 25lbs less to be the correct weight for her size. I am tired of feeling sluggish andlooking down to see my belly out farther than my boobs! I just went to the dr and could not believe my weight it was 212 and on a 5 ft woman that is horrid! No I am not ashamed to tell my
